Install on iPhone / iPad
Safari’s Add to Home Screen is the installable iPhone/iPad app — icon, fullscreen, offline. No App Store binary.

Add to Home Screen
This is how you install Lingo as a real iPhone / iPad app without the App Store: icon on the Home Screen, fullscreen (no Safari chrome), and offline after one cache warm.
- Open Lingo in Safari (not Chrome or Firefox). Use an https:// link — not Mac
localhost. - Tap the Share button (square with an upward arrow). On iPad it sits in the toolbar; on iPhone it is often at the bottom of Safari.
- Scroll the sheet and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add. On iPad you may need to swipe the action list to find it.
- Open the new Lingo icon (fullscreen, no Safari chrome), then tap Cache main screens now below once while online — or wait for the quiet daily warm.
- Optional check: turn on Airplane Mode and open Home, Path, and Dict.
Android
Chrome → menu (⋮) → Install app or Add to Home screen.
From your Mac
iPhone / iPad cannot install from localhost. On the Mac run npm run deploy:check, then npm run deploy (needs npx vercel login once). Or import the GitHub repo at vercel.com/new. Open the HTTPS URL in Safari → Add to Home Screen. Full steps: docs/install.md.
You're on localhost. Deploy with npm run deploy, then open the public URL on your iPad.
Offline checklist
- Install from Safari over HTTPS
- Cache once (button below) — Home, Path, Review, Scenes, Decode, Basics, Grammar, Words, Dict, Settings, plus lesson pages and RSC shells for in-app navigation
- Progress saves automatically on this device (IndexedDB). Use Settings for file backup or cloud sync.
- Dictionary pack caches after first load / warm

More offline & backup toolsNot on the App Store
Apple does not list this web app in the App Store. Add to Home Screen from Safari on an https:// deploy is the supported install. That gives a real icon, standalone display, and offline use after you cache once.
What needs network
Cloud sync and account login need a connection. Pronunciation uses your device’s German voice. After an app update, open Lingo once online (hard-refresh if a page looks stuck).
